Fair warning, there is a LOT of info on this page. If you cannot find what you're looking for,
please just email me, info@SweetToothATX.com.
All of my cakes come with your choice of basic cake flavor. My basic cakes are Chocolate and Vanilla Cake (Vanilla, White, or Yellow) with American or Swiss Vanilla Buttercream. The American Buttercream is sweet, and the Swiss Vanilla is lighter in body, and not as sweet as its American counterpart. All other flavors are considered specialty flavors and cost a little more than the base pricing. My basic cakes come with two layers of cake, come on finished cake boards, are decorated with top and bottom borders, and in inscription in any color of your choice. Things like stacking fees, sculpting fees, decoration charges, extra layers and specialty up-charges are itemized, and added after the base price of a cake. This makes it easy to tweak individual parts of your order to suit your budget.
My basic cupcakes come topped with swirls of icing and sprinkles, and start at $3/each (basic cake & icing flavors). They are sold by the dozen. Edible image, plaque style toppers start at $1/each. Handmade toppers vary in price depending on if it's 2D or 3D in nature. They usually cost between $5-$25/each. Paper picks are also available, and custom made to order. The cost of picks vary depending on the type of paper used, and how many layers are in the design. They usually cost between $20-$35/dozen.
The serving variance on my cakes is from larger, party serving sizes, to smaller sized portions. All these serving yields are based off of a two layer cake. By adding a third layer, you will increase your servings by half. By torting your 2 layers into 4, you will slightly increase your servings & height. This is what the difference in layers will look like:
It usually costs $25-50 for edible image decorations, depending on the size. Free-hand buttercream work can cost anywhere between $25-100/per tier, depending on the size and if it's a front facing design or a 360° design cake. Fondant decoration is the most expensive type of decoration. In some cases, covering a cake in fondant can double the base price of the cake. Figurines/toppers start at $50/each. Semi-sculpted cakes start at $150. Sculpted cakes start at $300.
Just to give you an idea of what your final price might be, the industry standard for custom cakes is usually around $4-12/serving. The lower end of that scale will be your buttercream cakes with minimal or simple decorations. The higher end of that scale includes sculpted cakes and cakes that are highly detailed. Decoration fees vary depending on which type of sugar medium is to be used. Most cakes fall within 3 general groups: all buttercream, buttercream base with fondant decorations, and all fondant. There are many factors that go into pricing a cake. I'm happy to provide an estimate, once I know what flavor cake & icing you would like, what size & shape cake you would like, as well as how many layers, and the theme/level of detail & decoration you want.
I have a minimum of $100 for custom orders. The exception to this is if you are ordering a seasonal/holiday cake with small customizations like adding an inscription. These cakes are usually specialty flavor serving cakes offered around the holidays, and can be found on my holiday order forms.
I also offer free smash cake for little ones, ages 1 & 2, with a purchase of a party cake. These cakes are 3" single layer cakes that come on 6" boards. They are typically decorated in the same style, or in a complementary style to the main cake. They are decorated in all buttercream with minimal use of fondant, unless specified otherwise. Usually with babies, it's harder to tell what they may or may not be allergic to. So, they are typically just vanilla cakes with vanilla buttercream & colored buttercream, so they can make a great big photo worthy mess! LOL
Cake terminology always trips people up, so here are some helpful things to remember:
- Layers refers to the number of cake layers that are in a single tiered cake.
- Sheet cake means no filling. They only have icing on the top & sides. They are typically what you buy in a grocery store. I do not make sheet cakes. All of my cakes have at least two layers of cake.
- Tiers refers to the number of tiers that make up a stacked cake. Think wedding cakes... Those have tiers, and each tier has 2-4 layers.
Cake sizes always confuse people too. Here are some popular basic shaped cakes & configurations that most people order. Keep in mind that most all of these serving yields are based off of a two layer cake. See the diagram above to amend the serving yield by adding more layers to tiers.

Custom Decorated Cookies
My regular sized hand-decorated cookies are about 3.5-4", and start at $3.50/each for very simple designs. Most cookies cost $4-$4.50/each for semi-intricate designs. Intricate designs cost between $4.50-$6/each. Mini cookies are around 1-1.5" and come 4 to a set for $5-6 depending on the complexity of the designs. I offer cookie bouquets; small for $50, or large for $100. These include a mixture of small and large designs, in a terracotta pot, and is usually designed to be a gift or a centerpiece. Lastly, I offer cookie platters. These come with 15-30 cookies depending on the design, and start at $100. I have a $100 minimum order. Most of my clients choose to order an assorted set of different sized cookies that fit within their budget. These sets will include some large medium, small, and mini cookies, and the actual quantity of cookies will vary depending on the cutter shapes, and level of design.
Many of my clients order my cookies to be used as thank you/parting gifts. Do you plan on using your cookies as part of your dessert table, or as thank you gifts? I offer a wide range of packaging ranging from sealed bags, to unique, handmade boxes. My packaging fees are as follows:
- 15¢ for a sealed bag
- 25¢ for a bag tied with ribbon
- 50¢ for a sealed bag with custom sticker
- $1 for a bag tied with a ribbon & tag
- $2+ for handmade boxes
The fine print, policies, and notes from Kelly:
•Legal Statement & Allergen Notice: Sweet Tooth ATX, LLC operates as a legal home bakery/cottage business with a Food Manager Certificate that is approved by the Texas Department of State Health Service. All food made at Sweet Tooth is made in a home kitchen and is not inspected by the Department of State Health Services, or a local health department. If you have specific dietary requirements or allergies, please inform me prior to completing your ordering. My kitchen also makes baked goods that may contain major allergens, such as peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, soy and wheat. After your order is placed, you will be notified of the allergens that your order contains.
•I am a cottage baker. This means that I am legally prohibited from making & selling certain foods, ie: foods that require refrigeration, like fresh cut fruit fillings/toppings, custards, cream fillings, whipped cream, pumpkin pie, cheesecake, etc. Please don't ask. I'll say no. Don't make it awkward. If these are things that you really want, then I can recommend a brick and mortar bakery who can legally do this for you.
•I do farmers markets weekly & travel for festivals a LOT! This means that we might have to get creative with your pick up dates & times. Sorry, I cannot deliver your birthday cake if I am at a market at the same time. Cakes & cookies last for SEVERAL DAYS before they're served. It's okay to pick up a few days prior to your event. If you are wanting to order something larger, like a quinceanera or wedding cake, that's a different story. Those I prefer to deliver, given that they are usually larger & harder to transport. You don't want that kind of stress for your big day. Just let me deliver; it's worth the cost. That being said, a cake that requires delivery on a day that I normally have a farmers market, needs to be booked at least three months in advance. I am active in markets that have participation requirements, and I must give them ample notice that I will not be in attendance. I also cannot miss too many markets. This means that I am limited in the number of these types of order that I can take each quarter. Bottom line, I book up fast, so book your order far in advance.
•You are welcome to pick up custom orders from me at a market. Please understand that I do not have a way to refrigerate your order. If you are picking up in the hotter months (May-September), then you need to come early. Cakes start to melt in 70° weather. 30 minutes in 80° weather means that your cake is completely melted.
•Cakes should be transported level, and at a cool temperature. You will need to make sure that you have a flat place to set your cake when transporting it. It is never a good idea to place a cake in a bucket style seat. However, if a seat is your only option, then recommend bringing a towel or something to make sure that it sits level, and keeps it from sliding off the seat. It is not a good idea to put your cake in the trunk, or leave it in the car without the air conditioning on. If you have errands to run, it’s a good idea that they are done prior to picking up your cake.
•Your cake will be given to you chilled. It is common for it to look shiny/glossy as it comes to room temperature. Do not touch it during this time, as it will mar the surface (especially fondant covered cakes). You will need to allow your cake to come to room temperature before serving. Most cakes take 1-2 hours to come to room temp. If you do not plan on eating your cake as soon as you arrive at your destination, or shortly thereafter, then I recommend that you refrigerate it as soon as possible to avoid settling & bubbling. Do not take it out of the box, as this helps insulate it.
•I typically request at least four weeks advance notice on custom orders. I try to do what I can for emergency orders, but I am not always able to help. I do not take orders under 3 days. It’s even harder to book emergency orders on a holiday weekend. Orders placed under one week is considered emergency orders. In the event that I can take a last minute order, emergency orders are subject to an additional $50 rush fee, and options are extremely limited.
•Hardware, Boards, and Packaging Policies: A certain amount of my items are inclusive with the cost of your cake/cupcakes/treats. All of my cakes are served on disposable boards unless otherwise ordered or necessary. Cakes that are more than 3 feet tall may require more than disposable bases and internal structures. Larger, sturdier bases and structures must be leased. Various treats such as cake balls, lollypops, chocolate pops, marshmallow pops, and decorated cookies are generally not served in treat bags. The bags, ties and boxes in which they are presented are not inclusive in the cost of the treat purchased. All cakes and cupcakes are delivered in boxes that you may keep to store leftovers. If your cake is too large to fit in a box, then you may request a box for later use. If you lease items from me, and do not wish to return the items yourself, then I will be more than happy to come pick them up. A retrieval fee of $25 will be charged for retrieval under 10 miles. Retrieval fees for distances over 10 miles are assessed using the same delivery charge assessment chart listed below.
•Delivery and Set-up Policies: Delivery fees are calculated by the distance traveled from my house, 4505 Truth Way Austin, Texas 78725. Set-up fees are inclusive in the cost of most large cakes & dessert tables. If you require set up of anything other than the items purchased from me, then an additional charge will be applicable (ie: flowers on cake, table decorations, etc.). Fees vary depending on the size of the cake and distance to be traveled. Our delivery charges are as follows:
- 1-15 miles......$25
- 15-20 miles.....$40
- 20-25 miles......$50
- 25-30 miles......$60
- 30-35 miles......$70

For small parties, 50% of total become non-refundable if order is canceled under 5 days and event is not rescheduled, and 100% non-refundable if the order is cancelled under 3 days and not rescheduled. Cancellations for large parties and weddings must be made at least 3 weeks (21 days) prior to the event. Deposits for large parties become non-refundable if order is canceled under 3 weeks.
